Wishing Well & Wheelbarrow Craft

Okay so maybe I am borderline obsessed with wood projects...

I just really like to build things...

doesn't everyone? ;)

Building a little wishing well and wheelbarrow for my living room decor has been on my list for a while... probably a year or so...

...and I finally got them done!

These were fun easy projects that didn't take long once I got started. They aren't very big... the whishing well is about 6 inches tall, and the wheelbarrow is about 6 inches long. So not very big but the perfect size for my crate shelves.

The wishing well is cut out of 1/2inch square dowls... with the supports being popsicle sticks. The little tin roof is one of my favorite parts of the wishing well (I bought it at Dollar Tree in the craft section and cut it down to fit)

Self-Watering Strawberry Planter {Wicking Bed}

Have you ever heard of a Wicking Bed

I hadn't until last summer and they are amazing

A wicking bed is a raised bed that has a water reservoir in the bottom that slowly wicks up water into the soil to water your plants. So you don't have to water your raised beds every day. Who doesn't like less watering!

Ladder Shelf & Wall Shelf

I have a thing for wood and building things...

I wouldn't call it an obsession...

I just really enjoy it.

I saw a cute shelf the other day as I was scrolling through Amazon looking for something we needed... wink, wink, ... I decided that shelf would look so cute on our bookcase in the living room. So instead of clicking to buy it... which is what most people would do... I've been guilty of that plenty of times... (ask my husband)... I hopped on lowes.com to see how much it would be to build my own. Now this option isn't always the cheapest because the cost of wood is so darn much, but its what I love to do... so I did.

The nice thing about making your own wood projects is that you usually have left over pieces of wood so then you can just make more projects :)

DIY {Scrapwood} Snowflake

"To appreciate the beauty of a snowflake it is necessary to stand out in the cold"  -Aristotle

A wood snowflake has been on my "to build" list for years. So during Christmas break my girls and I spent some time building. I made a snowflake while my girls each made large wood arrows.

They were each different {just like us}
and they turned out great!
{plus: its always fun doing things together}

There are so many good tutorials online from so many talented women. I probably have about 100 different tutorials saved on pinterest. But I just wanted a small one {18"} to go on my shelf in our livingroom. So I took the directions from a couple different tutorials and just shortened all the pieces.

DIY Easter Sign {makeover}

Easter is one of my favorite holidays!
{actually I really like them all!}

I love to decorate each month and I like the decorations to be simple {and meaningful}. Its ideal to find a sign that looks and says just what you want and doesn't cost very much.... but that is rarely ever the case for me so I improvise.

Every year I come up with lists of new things I want to buy/make. This year I wanted a couple small signs to accompany my wooden bunny.

These signs were so simple to make, didn't cost much,
and turned out so cute!

Hoppy Easter {wooden bunny}

I love spring! I love the green grass! And I love the warm weather!

I’ve been working on these cute wooden bunnies... last year I wanted to make one but never got the chance. This year I got it started but not finished, yet anyways.

Rustic DIY Wood Crate Centerpiece

Fall is in full swing here in the Eastern corner of the Beehive state and I’m loving all the colors!
I have a simple DIY project that only cost $10 to make. This rustic wood crate / tray /caddy. It is the perfect size for our table and is easy to move or rearrange when its time to eat or play games. It fits just about any size of pumpkins or gourds for the fall season and can be used for other seasonal decor as well. {Its nice when decor can be used for more than just one season}

DIY Chunky Wood Frame

One of my favorite things to decorate with are chunky wood frames… but they can be really expensive and I just can’t justify spending money on them.  So I made my own…

DIY Wood Lamp

I have wanted to throw out our old metal lamp and get a wood lamp for a couple years now.  I searched forever to find a large wood spindle to make a lamp.  I found a few online {used and new}… but they were very expensive and more than my budget.  So… I had to find a way to make my own wood lamp that would stay within my small budget.  I did a little searching and found these great sofa legs at Lowes… $7 each… I can handle that!
