Solar Jack-O-Lanterns

Its October!... there's a scare in the air.

These solar pumpkins are one of the coolest projects!

We love carving pumpkins and lighting them for All-Hallows-Eve but we only get to enjoy them for one night... all that work for one night.

So when I saw this project on the internet I was online ordering some solar lights so I could make some solar pumpkins.

As soon as the solar lights arrived I got started.

I already had the plastic pumpkins... the original video I watched used the pumpkin buckets that the kids use to trick-or-treat with, unfortunately I only had two left from our kids. But I did have quite a few of the plugin light up pumpkins... so I used those instead. I love how they looked! (You could also put these solar lights in your real carved pumpkins... just cut a big hole in the top set the light in and make sure it gets sunlight. It would work great!)

I cut a hole in the top for the solar light to fit in and then drilled a small hole in the bottom so the stake pole could go in and attach to the solar light inside. (It was a bit messy so I recommend cutting and drilling the holes outside because the plastic is very clingy and sticks to everything). I wrapped some tape around the base of the pumpkin to hold everything in place. It worked great!

The hardest part was waiting for dark so I could see how they looked... but when they finally came on they looked great! Now we can enjoy them for the entire month and not just one night.

Below are the solar lights I bought and they are amazing! They are 200 Lumens each so they are much brighter than most other solar stakes... and they worked really good for these pumpkins. The only downfall is they are quite a bit more expensive than most other solar stakes. (I don't have any affiliate links so you'll have to look them up)

This was a very easy project... and they look amazing!

I really love how our solar Jack-o-lanterns turned out!

Happy Halloween!
